My Portfolio (and my philosophy on photography)

My interest in photography started when I was a kid. A friend installed Photoshop on my computer, which I fell in love with. I spent hours on the program; adding my friend's face to Frankenstein's body, erasing all the other dancers from an otherwise perfect picture of my sister at her ballet recital, or finding 1,000 different ways to enhance a single family photo. But for years my focus was mainly on video and filmmaking. When I first tried going full time with my business--all the books and YouTube videos said to "niche down" and "specialize."

I almost cut photo completely from my services.

I'm so glad I didn't do this. Although video will always be my first passion, I've come to like photo even more. There's a speed and an energy to capturing photos. For me, video is about capturing the reality of a moment. Photo is about capturing the essence of a moment. The essence of a couple. The essence of a person. It's not what they were...it's what you remember about them. Sometimes I get this by posing a couple. These are the shareable, printable photos. The ones you'll make your profile picture, or hang on your walls. But between these poses are when I snap my favorite pictures. The in-between-photos. When you stopped posing, let your guard down...and laughed.

Whether you book me for a wedding or a portrait shoot--that's what you'll get. A mix of formal and informal; posed and candid.
